ABOUT ME

Stefani Rosado (She, Her)

I provide online therapy for adults in Massachusetts and Maine who are living with depression and looking for steady, compassionate support. My work is grounded in warmth and proven therapeutic methods, helping clients rediscover motivation, understand their emotional patterns, and build a stronger sense of direction.

Sessions are held virtually in a private, welcoming space designed to fit comfortably into your routine. You’ll have room to express yourself openly, explore what feels heavy, and gradually cultivate resilience, without the inconvenience of travel or fixed in-office schedules. Together, we’ll focus on creating meaningful steps toward stability and renewed confidence.

Types of depression I work with

I support clients experiencing many different forms of depression, and understanding these variations can help you make sense of what you’re going through.

Major Depressive Disorder

Involves persistent sadness, loss of interest, and difficulty functioning in daily life. Symptoms can be severe and long-lasting, often affecting sleep, appetite, energy, and motivation.

Persistent Depressive Disorder

Persistent depressive disorder is a long-term form of depression with symptoms that are less intense but more chronic. It can last for years and often feels like a constant low mood or emotional heaviness.

Existential Depression

Often arises from deep questioning about identity, purpose, or meaning in life. People may experience emptiness, disconnection, or a sense that life lacks direction.

Situational Depresion

Situational depression develops in response to a difficult life event or transition, such as a loss, breakup, or major change.

Other

Not all anxiety fits into a clear category. You may feel restless or overwhelmed without knowing why. Therapy helps you explore these feelings and find calm again.

When is it Time to Seek Help From a Depression Therapist?

While everyone’s experience with depression is different, certain emotional, behavioral, and physical signs can indicate that it may be time to seek support:

Emotional and Behavorial Symptoms

  • When feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness become persistent.

  • When you lose interest in activities that once felt meaningful or enjoyable.

  • When you struggle to feel connected to yourself or others, or emotions feel overwhelming or numb.

  • When daily tasks (work, relationships, or routines) start to feel unmanageable.

  • When you notice withdrawal from social connection or increased isolation.

  • When motivation, focus, or decision-making become significantly harder.

Physical Symptoms

  • When sleep patterns change noticeably, whether sleeping too little or too much.

  • When your appetite or energy levels shift in ways that affect daily functioning.

  • When your body feels unusually heavy, tense, or fatigued without a clear medical cause.

  • When you experience frequent headaches, stomach discomfort, or unexplained aches connected to emotional distress.

  • When your body feels slowed down or restless in ways that interfere with your ability to function normally.

How do I know if I’m sad or depressed? Are they the same?

  • Sadness is a natural emotional response to difficult or disappointing experiences. It tends to be temporary and tied to a specific situation, and while it may feel heavy, you can still experience moments of relief, connection, or enjoyment. Your daily functioning usually stays intact, and although your motivation may dip, you’re generally able to continue with your routine. For example, you might feel sad after a stressful week or a conflict, but you can still go to work, meet a friend, or find comfort in small activities.

  • Depression, however, is more persistent and affects multiple parts of your life. It often lasts for two weeks or more and may not have a clear trigger. You might lose interest in activities that once felt meaningful, notice changes in sleep or appetite, or feel a deep exhaustion that makes everyday responsibilities difficult to manage. Concentration may become harder, and feelings of emptiness, worthlessness, or disconnection from yourself or others can appear. For instance, you may find yourself withdrawing from friends, struggling to get out of bed, or feeling numb even during moments that used to bring joy.

Even so, it’s important to remember that no single symptom or even a few symptoms  is enough to determine whether you’re experiencing sadness or depression. A trained therapist is the one who can help you understand what you’re going through and provide an accurate assessment.
